At the start, we'll need a day or two to set up everything for you. We need to set our systems up to accomodate you, brief our team on your business, and make sure the team knows how best to answer your calls. Then, as a Star21 customer, you simply divert your calls to us whenever you want to!

So, how does it work?

If you can, call or email us at any time to tell us where you'll be and when you'll be back. Don't worry, we're not trying to manage your day - but it helps if we're able to let your callers know when they can expect a return call from you. Then, if you haven't already done so, divert your telephone calls through to us. Choosing how and when your calls are diverted to us is really easy!

NOT AVAILABLE FOR A WHILE? Divert your own phone number to us by dialling * 21 * plus a unique number that we will provide for you followed by # if you'd like us to answer ALL of your calls.

You can chose when you'd like us to take your calls - permanently, or just at certain times of the day if you'd prefer - by setting this divert ON or OFF.

SPENDING A LOT OF TIME ON THE PHONE? Divert your own phone number to us by dialling * 67 * plus a unique number that we will provide for you followed by # if you prefer just to 'divert on busy', so that we only pick up calls for you when your line is engaged.

AWAY FROM YOUR DESK FOR A FEW MINUTES? Divert your own phone number to us by dialling * 61 * plus a unique number that we will provide for you followed by # so that all unanswered calls are passed to us after 15 seconds.

PLEASE NOTE: These divert codes apply to customers using standard BT phone lines. You may need to use different codes if you are diverting calls from a BT Featureline phone, a mobile telephone or if you subscribe to Landline services from a supplier other than BT.

  • We aim to answer every call within 3 rings and to deliver priority messages within 15 minutes. We're delighted to say that we have an excellent track record with those targets.
  • We can take a message or, alternatively, patch a call straight through to you or any of your team, wherever you are.
  • We relay messages to you immediately after each call, using your choice of email, SMS to a mobile phone or by fax. If you want your messages sent differently on occasions just let us know!
  • We'll also send you a detailed report of all the day's calls at the end of each day or whenever you choose to receive them.
  • You can rest easy knowing that all your calls will be answered. Once your phone is diverted, we log all calls automatically, so none will be missed. For peace of mind, you can always double check that your line is still diverted. We'll show you how.
  • For out-of-hours, Sundays and bank holidays, we set up a personal voicemail for you and, on the next working day, we'll transcribe any messages left for you. If you'd prefer, we can arrange for these messages to be emailed to you as a .WAV file as soon as they are recorded, or you can dial into the system yourself and listen to them using your own unique mailbox and PIN numbers.


  • There is a minimum contract period of three months for ongoing services, but you can change your tariff or call answering package monthly, to suit any changes in your business. We can also charge for services by the day for short-term needs.
